Animolympics 2019: The First game

Victory is in having done your best. If you’ve done your best, you’ve won.

A Vlog made by the Team Cafifge, Jareno and Sombria to pay tribute to their first Animolympics Experience – Directed by Jareno J. And Co-Assisted by Cafifge and Sombria.

During the Animolympics of the College, there have been a vast number of people who participated in a variety of events. From the different display of booths to the various number of sports that were held at the University of St. La Salle. Indeed, the opening of the Sports Festival was a blast! Moreover, our team went for a stroll around the campus to check the booths that were displayed at the parking lot in front of the Coliseum.

Firstly, we went to Tiby’s Grill and ate the Bacolod’s finest specialty, which is the “Inasal na Manok” (Grilled Chicken). Spending such quality time with our peers during the first day of the sports fest boosted our excitement since we are able to oversee the diverse talents of the College students when it comes to Sports.

Secondly, we bought some cotton candy to gratify our cravings as we continue to look around and witness the games during our vacant period. There we discovered the 5 different consisting teams of the different College departments. The orange team which is the CET (College of Engineering and Technology), the red team which is the CON (College of Nursing), the green team stands for CAS (College of Arts and Sciences), the blue team which stands for CEd (College of Education), and the last but not the least, the yellow team which is the CBA (College of Business and Administration).

Additionally, the first night of the Animolympics was the most exhilarating starter booze of the week. There had been a cheer dance competition among the five teams and everyone have gone farouche inside the Coliseum as people cheered and supported their own squads. Although the intermission numbers were a bit disconcerting to watch because of the multiple errors in their performances during that big night, the cheer leading teams quickly diverted the attention of the crowd to focus on the real score of the event which is the greatest competition of the astounding stunts they were able to perform in front of the audience.

Lastly, although it has been a great night for some, the results of the cheer dance competition brought disappointment and rage to the CBA students since the administration declared them as disqualified because of the “illegal” stunts they have showcased during their performance. Ergo, the results also brought shame and dissatisfaction to the supporters of the said team. Despite this, every team carried out their best during the competition since they have also worked very hard for that accomplishment to make it all happen. Therefore, we think that the most important thing among everything that had happened is none other than: SPORTSMANSHIP.

Here are the total rank of the teams held on Day One:
Women’s Bowling (CBA, CAS, CET, CON, CED)
Women’s Othello (CBA, CET, CAS, CON, CED)
Men’s Othello (CET, CBA, CAS, CON, CED)
Men’s Football (10 CBA VS CON 0)
Men’s Volleyball (CBA (WINNER) VS CON, CET (WINNER) VS CAS)
Women’s Basketball (CED VS CAS (WINNER), CET (WINNER) VS CON)
Women’s Volleyball (CBA (WINNER) VS CET, CED VS CAS (WINNER)
Men’s Basketball (CED VS CET (WINNER), CAS (WINNER) VS CON)
Women’s Football (CON (0) VS CAS (0), CET (WINNER) VS CED)

The Avidity to Win

The second day of the Sports Fest has been occupied by different Sports, such as Table Tennis, where we stopped by for a few moments and watched the intense fight of the two opponents throughout their game as they perform various strategies and techniques such as backspins, sidespins, chop and a lot of smashing. It was during that time where the CAS’ (College of Arts and Sciences) and the CBA’s (College of Business and Administration) combat with each other caught our attention as they exchanged strikes of the Ping Pong ball in front of a small, green table with a net between the opposing teams.

Consequently, after a few sets of the game, although it was a close fight, it was still the yellow team (CBA) who won the Sport of Table Tennis over the CAS who is the green team. After that, out of the awareness of the College and the Liceo students, they were surprised as the De La Salle Chorale club performed a flash mob near the Coliseum and the Miguel Lobby. Almost everyone who gathered at those certain places was eager to listen as the DLSC club as they once again showcased their talents and have also invited the students to watch their upcoming Concert on February 22, 2019.

We took a break documenting the Animolympics and ate some Shawarma for lunch.

In addition, there has also been a Swimming Competition near the Grandstand inside the campus at early Tuesday morning. It was a sunny day for the students of the De La Salle University during that day, but our group did not get a chance to watch the swimming competition since as Liceo students, we are still required to attend and have our regular classes.

There are also games held in the field such as athletics and beach volleyball. College students are preoccupied with cheering and supporting their picks which is their own College Department.

It was a successful kick-start of the sports that led for a couple of days deciding who will stay on top and who will fight back.

The winners of Day 2 are the following:
Men’s Basketball (CBA and CET)
Women’s Basketball (CBA and CAS)
Men’s Football (CBA)
Women’s Football (CBA, CAS, CET)
Men’s Badminton (CBA)
Women’s Badminton (CBA)
Women’s Beach Volley (CBA)
Men’s Basketball (CBA, CET, CED)
Women’s Basketball (CBA and CET)

Wednesday Fun Day!

Majority of our class have been bombarded by PTs during this day. So, our group decided to visit the different areas of Sports during our break time.

First, we went to the Coliseum to witness the Women’s Basketball game of the College students. It was an electrifying game between the Red Phoenixes (Nursing) and the Yellow Eagles’ (CBA) when we arrived inside. Therefore, we discovered that it was the 8th Game of Women’s basketball where the CBA once again won the game with a score of 60-6, and with CBA as the leading champion. There are also students that have stopped by for they have been intrigued by the game as the “Lin-Ay sang Negros 2018” Danice Decolongon played for the College of Business and Accountancy and became an aid by helping them gain a lot of points for the team.

On the other hand, the CET Tigresses defeated the CAS Lionesses in Women’s Basketball, also at the University’s Coliseum with a score of 46-41 with CET as the leading champion.

In addition to this, there had also been a Game 8 of the Men’s Basketball also held inside the Coliseum with the CED Blue Dragons as they conquered the game against the CON Red Phoenixes with a record of 99-71.

Along with this, the YAL CBA also earned the victory as they soared high during the championship round of the Men’s and Women’s Badminton Tournament held at the Pohang Badminton Center with a raw score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, the CON Red Phoenix defeated the CEd Blue Dragons in Women’s Football at the Dizon Football Field early Wednesday morning, with a score of 1-0. While in Women’s Volleyball, the CET Orange Tigresses were defeated by the mighty CAS Green Lionesses in Game 7 at the Dizon Covered Court. In fact, it was surely a close fight between the opponents. Subsequently, during the Men’s Volleyball game, the CET Orange Tigers succeeded the tournament and was placed as the first placer in the overall results during this day.

To sum it all,  the results on this day are as follows:

1st – CET

2nd – YAL CBA

3rd – CEd

4th – CAS

5th – CON

Day Four’s Competition

“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”

Vince Lombardi

Women’s Volleyball

The fourth day of the Animolympics was a gratifying show to watch, thus, most of the College students never missed a chance to gape at the different teams they are siding with. In the Women’s Volleyball, the Yellow Eagles (CBA) once again defeated the Green Lionesses (CAS) with a score of 25-25 and 18-12. Meanwhile, the Blue Dragons (CEd) were also conquered by the Red Phoenixes (CON) during the Volleyball Competition with a score of 21-23 and 25-25.

Women’s Swimming

Eloquently, the swimming competition was witnessed by many students of the University of St. La Salle near the Grandstand located inside the campus. Interests rose not only to the Liceo students but also to the other people along with the crowd. They cheered for their top picks as the competitors swam fast with a variety of techniques. The CBA took a dip to the top, where CAS earned the second place, then, CET as the third place, with CON placed fourth, and the CED arrived last respectively.

It was indeed a breathtaking competition–pun intended–were aqua warriors defeated not just their fellow competitors but also the raging waves of water.

Men’s Swimming

Along with this, also during this day, January 17, 2019;
The contest brought the crowd to rejoice and shout in unison as the Men took off their shirts at the beginning of the competition, especially to the girls who supported their chosen competitors during the game.
The administration of PESAR also announced the results after the Men’s edition of the swimming competition, where, the CET emerged to and won the first place, with CBA placed as second, together with CAS as third, CON as fourth, and the CEd being the last place.

Men and Women’s Lawn Tennis

Of course, the Lawn Tennis competition have also brought thrill and entertainment not only to the contestants who joined, but also to the audiences who have witnessed the game at the Tennis Court beside the Dizon Covered Court inside the Uuniversity of St. La Salle.

The official results were also released after the game with the courtesy of PESAR where CBA have once again stroked the winning ball to summit and won the competition, together with the respective teams as follows: CET, CAS, CON, and CEd being the last placer of the game.

Men’s Football

The Football game brought chills to the crowd as they saw the intense competition between various teams of the College department. The yellow Eagles (CBA) vs the orange Tigers (CET) got both zero (0) scores during the entire game, while the green Lions (CAS) vs the red Phoenixes (CON) also had a tie score of one (1) for both teams.

Animolympics 2019 Champions: Yu An Log CBA Brings Home the Bacon

As quoted by The Spectrum – USLS, “In their 13th year of reign as the overall champion, the Yu An Log College of Business and Accountancy has yet again proved their resiliency with 1,328 points in this year’s #Animolympics2019! Congratulations to the Yellow Eagles!”

The last day of the Animolympics had the most fascinating events than any other days all throughout the week. Moreover, the Sports Fest results were also announced by the administrating body, PESAR, and appointed CBA as the overall champion of the Animolympics 2019.

College of Business and Accountancy

Champion

As what Kelly Clarkson wrote in her song : What doesn’t kill you make you stronger, well The College of Business and Accountancy indeed fought and resurrected their title even though they had a faulty start where the CBA Cheering Squad was placed as fourth-runner up with their Black Panther-inspired theme during the Cheer dance competition, and have received a DQ from the judges, they still managed to make it to the top and conquered the other different College departments. At this point on, I think we all agree to what Eric Thomas said: An eagle uses the negative energy of a storm to fly even higher. The CBA has indeed soared high and never broke their record by flying the highest among the rest.

College of Engineering and Technology

First runner up

An injured tiger would always continue to roar and fight with all its might until the end of time. They will always come up with a way to make their voices echo throughout the jungle. Although it is a devastating blow, the CET has been a very worthy opponent to the CBA. Giving them a hard time reaching the top and became a very strong hindrance. They have excelled in a great number of games and proved their worth to many. They never sat back and relaxed but stood up and never gave up until the end. A fighter will always be a fighter.

College of Arts and Sciences

Second runner up

A lion that is green, of course, the only one that can think of that is the College of Arts and Sciences. The free imagination and determination of the students of CAS pushed them to be outstanding in various games. They are not just creative in their own respective courses but also very positive in winning in games thus helped them in earning a title in the top three. Science for Knowledge and Art for Work, combine them together and you get the best force in your spirit to succeed. Even if they did not win the Animolympics 2019, they stood right and proud, quietly strong just like a Lion, the King of the Jungle.

College of Education

Third runner up

They are not as many as the three before, but they undeniably showed us how they educated themselves with discipline and motivation to succeed even with the limited number of qualified participants. Practice after practice they would never surrender. You only fail once you stop trying and the College of Education has very much let us know that they are not yet ready to be the last. If the University of St. La Salle could dream, it would be the raging motivation and determination of the blue dragons.

College of Nursing

Fourth runner up

The College of Nursing is here to remind us that everything should be taken lightly at heart and mind. There is no failure in trying and the College of Nursing did not fail for doing their best and bringing out their topmost prime. This College is here to remind us that even if how loud the crowd shouts and how the anticipation for the Animolympics are, we’re all here to have a little fun and break from the daily exhaustion of studying. Just as the red phoenixes would always break from the ashes, you just have to die a little bit inside in order to reborn and rise much stronger and a wiser version of you.

This is all just a game but it taught us to bring out the best from us and have a little bit of lighthearted pleasure and entertainment. It is not about the title, but how they have progressed from this process and if you have developed positively then that’s the trophy of life.

This is all about getting our Animo become a large fiercely burning fire.

God Bless Us All!
